Reading Notes: The Gold Giving Serpent

The story I have chosen for this week is The Gold Giving Serpent by Joseph Jacobs The poor farmer and the serpent are the main characters of the story I especially liked the serpent, he was clever and also was not to be messed with He taught the farmer a lesson about greed The farmer tried to betray the hand that fed him I could change the story to were the serpent was immortal and played dead and began to seek revenge on the farmer I could change it to a huge battle of the boy and the serpent for all the gold The snake lets the man be free after killing his son, I could re write that and have the snake take revenge on the farmer and kill him as well.  Photo from Wikimedia

Reading notes: Aesops fables Fox part 2

The story I have chose this week was the "The fox and the goat" I could keep the same plot but switch the characters  I could even change the story around because it a story of distrust The fox is very clever and to not be trusted Anything to do with never trusting a man in difficulties The fox and goat; picture from  wikimedia commons

Topic Brainstorm

OU GHOST STORIES: I actually had no idea OU was even haunted until I saw this! Now it makes sense because I could of sworn the house I lived in last year on campus was haunted. It is so interesting but a bit spooky. The most well known story is the story of Ellison Hall and I was just in there today! I'm a sucker for scary movies so I feel that I could easily use my imagination of a haunting at the university. I hope I never run into any ghosts on campus! MILO OF CROTON: Milo of Croton was one of the greatest greek athletes of all time! He was a six time olympic victor in wrestling. I feel that it would be a great story to re tell his story through an OU football stand point. Especially after our big win against Ohio State this week. There is obviously the Baker route I could go with the story telling. BOOMER! PIRATES: I really think that this would be a fun story to retell. From the stealing and looting, to drinking and capturing ships, I believe I could get quite creat

Feedback Strategies

For this week I read week 2 and week 3 articles. The first article I read was  6 Bad Mental Habits That Sabotage Your Success . I felt this article was relevant because I can get into my own thoughts at times. I think I am pretty good at absorbing feedback whether it is positive or negative. The article mentions athletes that have trouble accepting negative feedback but I feel everyone is different. When I played baseball I pitched so I was constantly getting critiqued and I feel that it had prepared me for feedback later in life. One thing I do need to work on is making excuses and that was the top bad habit that sabotage success. The next article I read was  How to Craft Constructive Feedback . I feel like this is an important task to help with writing critiques and any other feedback you may have to give. The best way to do this is to know who you are giving feedback to and what kind of opinions they are looking for. Another big part is listening and really understanding what you

The Slave and the Tricky Lion. Week 3 Story

Check out my new website Here Please check out the story at the website instead of on my blog!!! A slave named Androcles once escaped and fled to the forest. Once he arrived in the forest he heard loud roars and moans coming from behind a large tree. The slave, being meddlesome, decided to investigate the sounds. Upon coming around the tree he saw it was the Lion. With instincts kicking in Androcles decided to run as fast as he could deeper into the forest. After a while Androcles noticed the lion did not chase him at all. Thinking this was odd and being curious natured Androcles decided to go back and check on the lion. When he arrived he noticed the lion had a large thorn in his paw. He walked up to the lion and went to remove the thorn. When he began to remove it he noticed the thorn had just been stuck between the claws of the lion and realized this was a trick! Androcles began to run as fast as he could to try and get away from the lion and finally got into a cave
