Topic Brainstorm

OU GHOST STORIES:
I actually had no idea OU was even haunted until I saw this! Now it makes sense because I could of sworn the house I lived in last year on campus was haunted. It is so interesting but a bit spooky. The most well known story is the story of Ellison Hall and I was just in there today! I'm a sucker for scary movies so I feel that I could easily use my imagination of a haunting at the university. I hope I never run into any ghosts on campus!

MILO OF CROTON:
Milo of Croton was one of the greatest greek athletes of all time! He was a six time olympic victor in wrestling. I feel that it would be a great story to re tell his story through an OU football stand point. Especially after our big win against Ohio State this week. There is obviously the Baker route I could go with the story telling. BOOMER!

PIRATES:
I really think that this would be a fun story to retell. From the stealing and looting, to drinking and capturing ships, I believe I could get quite creative with this subject. I am going to pick one famous pirate from the past and hopefully I can find the craziest one of all. Id love to read that story and figure out all the things he did.

NURSERY RHYMES:
I feel like there is so much room for creativity with all the nursery rhymes we have all heard growing up as kids. From jack and jill, to three blind mice, to little bo peep. I think that putting a modern twist on these old nursery rhymes could be a fun and interesting thing to do! Who wouldn't want to change up the stories of their childhood a bit.

  1. Hi Zack!
All of your topics sound extremely interesting. Whichever way you decide to go, it looks like you'll have a great topic. Ghost stories would capture anyone's attention, and if you decided to write about OU being haunted I would for sure check back on your blog to see that. Milo of Croton as Baker Mayfield? That is such a smart, interesting twist on the story!

  2. Hey there Zack! I am really glad you decided to go with the OU Ghost stories! While I think your other ideas were also good, the ghost stories would be the most fun to write and also the most relatable for the average person reading your stories in my opinion! And I also love what you have done with your stories too it has turned out really well and has been incredibly entertaining!

Growth Mindset: My job as a growth mindset place

I have a part time job at a store in Del City called Gregorys sporting goods. I sell team uniforms and various things to customers and have been doing so for about two and half years while I have been in college. I work part time along with school. There is a lot of talking to do and selling and I have used those skills to be successful at what I do. I have been searching for a career and finally found one upon graduation and going through interviews you have to sell yourself. I believe my job at gregorys has provided with mindset that I will succeed in my career. I loved to learn and grow and this part time job has lead me to learn patience and organization. I am going to be sad leaving but I am so excited to start my new career. Gregorys Logo

Reading Notes, English tales: Three Little Pigs

The three little pigs is one of the most famous tales I want to keep the beginning of the story the same " ill huff and ill puff and ill blow your house down" After the wolf gets to the third house I can change the story around the wolf gets tricked every time and I could change that around to where the wolf was doing so on purpose The wolf talks about different ways to get the last pig out. I could change the way he tries to get him out of the house. Maybe even spy on the pig to devise a plan.  I don't want to take away from the original story but I feel like I could have some better ideas to make it more interesting.  Joseph Jacobs, Three Little Pigs; Link to reading The Wolf

Reading Notes: Tejas Legends, The Plant That Grows on Trees

The main characters of the story are the Thunder Bird and the Mistletoe I could change the names of the two main characters, maybe make the bird a squirrel and change what kind of plant is in the story. I could give a background about kissing under a mistletoe during christmas because birds would meet there and kiss under the mistletoe The bird could trick the mistletoe so that he could constantly have berries to feed on and that is why the thunder bird put the mistletoe in the tree.  If a seed ever made it to the ground the plant would become bad luck and curse whoever ate the berries of the seeds off the grounded mistletoe.  The plant that grows on trees retold by Florence Stratton; link to the reading Image of the Thunder Bird and Mistletoe
